Promotion of IPA-funded project for construction of sewage network, wastewater treatment plant in Prilep
Prilep, 28 November 2014 (MIA) – Vice-Premier/Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski, Environment Minister Nurhan Izairi and Head of EU Delegation to Macedonia Aivo Orav attended Friday in Prilep a promotion of a capital project, financed by the EU Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) funds and domestic participation. The project foresees reconstruction and expansion of the sewage network in Prilep ( EUR 16 million), as well as construction of a wastewater treatment plant (EUR 10 million) in the city’s suburb.
This is the first capital project to be realized in Macedonia under the IPA funds for environment protection, Stavreski said at the promotion.
The total project’s value shows that the Government remains committed to keep its promises, namely to realize the construction of the sewage network and wastewater treatment plant that will improve the quality of life of the citizens of Prilep municipality, he said.
The project is environment-friendly and will protect the soil and waters in this part of Pelagonija region, Izairi said.
Environment protection and improving the life of citizens are among the EU priorities, Orav said.
The overall project should be completed in 2017.
